Sta Hungry Stay Foolish

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish: a book (4)

Writers usually chase publishers with their attempts to publish their books. In my situation, a publisher is chasing me to publish a (paid) book based on my (free) blog articles. I’m struggling with all of this.

Do I need a book? No. My (free) website is (more than) enough. I prefer writing my articles than writing a book. The publisher is eager to convince me that I can have both: continue writing and having a book published.

Do I want a book? Yes. Probably, I do indeed because it (1) would expand my audience, and (2) would benefit my reputation as a writer. My downside risk is undesired attention on me rather than on my writing.

Do I believe in books? I’m not sure. Indeed, the pen is mightier than the sword. Nevertheless, technology is moving away from paper. Moreover, my style of writing includes inserting URLs, and adding music videos.

Perhaps, the outcome will be a hybrid book, combining a (free) eBook and a (paid) paperback.

Three interesting quotes:

  • “With enough courage, you can do without a reputation.”
    ― Margaret Mitchell
  • “Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses.
Focus on your character, not your reputation.
Focus on your blessings, not your misfortunes.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
  • “Your reputation is in the hands of others. That’s what the reputation is. You can’t control that. The only thing you can control is your character.”
    ― Wayne W. Dyer

Chasing pavements (2008) by Adele
artist, lyrics, video, Wiki-artist, Wiki-song

[Chorus]
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste, even if I knew my place?
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
