In 2016, I published my blog Fear and the 7 Belief systems. For a long time, I felt that an update was necessary. This update is like a (total) make-over.
In my view, there are 4 states of mind, being: Doubt, Fear, Hope & Love. Our emotions are (facial) expressions of those 4 states of mind. Also see my 2015 blog: Human Emotions – a new classification.
The reason for my make-over is “selfish”: fear is paralysing my partner’s thinking and is making her take a (i) distance, and subsequently even (i) quitting our relationship.
To be clear, she denies it’s about fear but about our “differences” (eg, clothing, intelligence, knowledge, money). Also see my 2019 blog: “You are very intelligent, aren’t you?” Such differences are meaningless to me.
I’m full of doubt and that prevents me from feeling inferior or superior. Her childhood was, however, very different from mine. Any childhood causes lasting “scars”. I became a fighter. Also see my 2022 blog: Failure.
My doubt (eg, right vs wrong) makes me a centrist. I refuse making a choice between the (extreme) columns: Fear and Love (see below). I believe in pragmatism; not in ideology.

My feeling of happiness is still dominating my state of mind. My inspiration is back. Thanking my partner may feel ironic but it’s genuine. I do hope that your happiness will win from your fear. Also see the song below.
Some relevant quotes:
- “There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” John Lennon
- “The higher you build walls around your heart, the harder you fall when someone tears them down.” — Unknown Author

[Verse 3]
Take my heart and take my hand
Like an ocean takes the dirty sand
And heal, heal, heal, heal
