Recently, I wondered whether fantasy is the opposite of reality. I suppose there are more views on that topic. The outcome of my diagram (below) feels like quite a (big) surprise. It also feels like another breakthrough in my thinking. Yet, I’m not yet sure in which direction.

My diagram highlights these views:
- Absolute vs relative;
- focus vs perspective;
- inspiration;
- objective vs subjective;
- opinions vs facts;
- perception vs reality, and
- the truth; and
- (un)known (un)knowns.
Some bulleted remarks:
- Reality: an absolute and objective view is impossible;
- Inspiration: its source is unknown to us;
- Perspective: the best that we can achieve (eg, facts);
- Focus: how we look at things and what we “see”;
- Beliefs: we know that we do not know (ie, opinions);
- Intuition: a feeling that we trust from a unknown source;
- Perception: perhaps indeed the opposite of reality.
One of my intriguing conclusions is that my diagram appears to support the view of Karl Popper (1902-1994) than an absolute truth may never be found during our lifetime. Please see my related blogs:

- 2021: Is anything absolute or is all relative?;

and also: - 2018: Absolute thinking – the Truth as a Belief system.
To be continued – or not.
