Late 2017, I published my blog on Waves (2), including the long-term economic Kondratiev wave (c.45-60 years), and the long term generational Strauss-Howe cycle (c.80 years). In my 2018 and 2020 blogs, I integrated (i) Needs, Wants & Beliefs and (ii) Awakening into the Strauss-Howe cycle.

Recently, I noticed a 2017 diagram that triggered today’s blog: The acceleration of Long Term waves:

The above 2017 diagram supports the phenomenon of accelerationism as also used in my 2021 diagram on Mechanization, Automation, AI & Robotics. Its motto seems to be: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (eg, lyrics, video).

Perhaps, accelerationism within evolution, society, technology and/or in waves is a similar phenomenon as draining water increasing in speed:
Yes, draining water can increase in speed due to gravity and the principle of conservation of angular momentum, which causes water to speed up as it moves towards a narrower opening. As the water level drops, the flow also increases in speed, and if a vortex forms, the water can drain even faster.

last but not least, two relevant quotes:
“In an age of acceleration, nothing can be more exhilarating than going slow. And in an age of distraction, nothing is so luxurious as paying attention. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is so urgent as sitting still.”
A quote by Pico Iyer (b.1957), “an English-born essayist and novelist known chiefly for his travel writing”.
and – finally – an intriguing quote by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas (b.1944):
“Any architectural project we do takes at least four or five years, so increasingly there is a discrepancy between the acceleration of culture and the continuing slowness of architecture.”
