In 2020, I published a blog called The cost, quality & speed trade-off in project management and/but without any diagram. In 2021, I published my diagram (below left) in a blog called The oxymoron of government innovation. It seems that my 2023 diagram (below right) was never published (before).
Nowadays, it seems that efficiency, price, quantity, and speed are (much) more important than quality.
What is quality and how to define quality ?? Dictionaries show several meanings (eg, example). Hence, the quality perspective depends on your focus.
Moreover, quality (eg, bad, good) is in the eye of the beholder, and thus (i) relative rather than absolute, as well as (ii) subjective (eg, an opinion) rather than objective (eg, a fact). I suppose that is the reason why my (draft) 2023 diagram remained unfinished.
Perhaps, quality is nothing more than my picture at the right.
Hence, quality is about everything.
My (draft) 2023 diagram (above right) includes twelve (12) items that would belong to everything.
Quantity is within my triangle: cost (eg, how much), deliverables (eg, how many, what, which), and timing (eg, how long).
