On April 23, I published my blog Done with USA and largely switched to other topics. Since that blog, matters only deteriorated. Each day, USA finds a new low. Since some weeks, I’m no longer taking that country any serious. Increasingly, USA is behaving like autocracies (eg, FT, China, Russia).
Are you able taking USA serious? If so, how and why ?? Feel free to comment. Obviously, any spamming will not be published.
I believe in principles & rules and especially the separation of powers a.k.a. trias politica. In my view, USA no longer has a (philosophical) belief in such cornerstones. Its only belief is in Power. Everything else is subject to its (autocratic) Power (eg, Knowledge, Love). This explains my opinion above.
IMPORTANT: a fact is a (largely) undisputed opinion (eg, heliocentrism, round Earth).
It’s tempting to argue that the American situation is temporary (eg, midterm elections, 2028 presidential election). I believe it’s (semi) permanent. California governor Gavin Newsom (Dem) proves that by copying the 2025 Texas proposed redistricting. Power attracts a counter Power (eg, NASA, Wiki).
In my view. the American situation is inherent with bipartisan politics, which is similar to the 2001 hit song Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (eg, lyrics, video, Wiki). A European multi-party system is more complex and more slow. However, it’s better and stronger following its inherent compromises.
The 2024 US presidential election has eroded American counter power. The Democratic Party is in shambles. In that political vacuum, the Republican Party increases its power by attacking (1) “liberal” courts & judges, (2) Blue cities and states, (3) Federal Reserve, (4) CDC, and (5) redistricting.
In my view, bipartisanship is favouring the party in Power. Without a serious (!!) American multi-party system, it seems impossible that USA will win back anyone’s respect and trust. I doubt USA cares about that – let alone Europe’s respect & trust. Soonish, it will be too late reversing its course.
