Why is Change so hard?

Yesterday, I noticed an interesting question, by a “former cabinet secretary”, in the Financial Times: Why is change so hard to deliver? FT article’s subtitle: “British politicians find the odds stacked against making good on promises made to voters”.

The question above has been on my mind as well. The answer relates to the drivers of Change;

Important examples of why Change is so hard are:

Often, politicians will expect easy change after winning a general election. In their view, a political majority implies that people should accept change. More often, those people will fight change instead.

Common obstacles to Change are these ones:

The above may suggest that Change is near impossible. The 2025 reelection of the American president is evidence that Change is hard and/but possible.

While change in Knowledge and Power is (very) hard, change in Love might be impossible.

Perhaps, the reason is that Love is bilateral or two-sided, while Knowledge and/or Power are multilateral or multi-sided.

To be continued – or not.
