Recently, soul legend Sly Stone died at the age of 82. A Dutch narrative claimed his success had important drawbacks, like “drug use and erratic behavior”. Apparently, success has like 20 negative factors. Hence, the article The Paradox of Success by Bill Cole. I do recognize several of those 20 factors.
My career suggests I have had success. The volume of spamming suggests I’m having success at my writing. The drawbacks of my success include(d) a burnout, an 18-month depression, and a divorce, and a near-bankruptcy. Several times, divine intervention saved my life. Success and failure are intertwined.
In my view, success has different meanings at different ages.
“Success is a subjective concept that evolves throughout one’s life. What is considered success at a young age, like winning a game or getting good grades, may differ from the success sought in later years, such as financial stability, strong relationships, or a fulfilling career. Ultimately, success is a personal journey, and its meaning is shaped by individual values, experiences, and aspirations.”

Nowadays, I’m hiding in the shadow of my success because being in the spotlights could – and thus would – hurt my healing. My serenity is more important than any success. I trust that I will be able to resist any temptation (eg, lyrics, video, Wiki). Fortunately, I often distrust (true) intentions.
A Google search (ie, “quotes success learning from failure”) revealed this interesting Google AI summary:
“Success often hinges on learning from failures, as setbacks provide valuable lessons that pave the way for future achievements. Many famous figures have emphasized this idea through quotes like “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently,” and “Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail.” These quotes highlight the importance of resilience and the ability to adapt and grow from mistakes.”
Perhaps, the best summary on failure and success is this one: Don’t give up ! (eg, my 2016 blog, lyrics, video, Wiki).
And – finally – the best quote:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”
A quote by Winston Churchill (1874-1965), a “British statesman, military officer, and writer” and (twice) Prime Minister of the UK

[Chorus]
It feels so good to be so young
And have this fun, and be successful (Yee)
I’m so successful (Yeah)
