Sta Hungry Stay Foolish

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

”This is not what we voted for”

“Billionaire hedge fund investor Bill Ackman, who endorsed President Trump last year, is offering a stark warning about the risks of the White House’s tariff plans, arguing they could cause the economy to collapse while hurting Trump supporters the most.” (the Hill, 7 April 2025)

Seriously?? We did not know ?!?!

His phrase is a reminder of the German saying: wir haben es nicht gewußt.

“It refers to the stereotypical defense said to have been used by Germans attempting to deflect accusations of not having done enough to stop Nazi crimes against humanity during the Second World War, especially the Holocaust.”

Actually, I did expect this lame defense excuse, although certainly not this soon, and certainly not by a billionaire hedge fund – and risk-reward – manager, like Bill Ackman.

Is denial about choices and priorities, what we can expect from now in USA??

Fortunately, a European multi-party government is (generally) not able to act like Trump-2025. Quite often, Anglo-American countries have a two-party system (eg, Conservatives vs Labour, or Democrats vs Republicans).

Why did Americans not take Trump serious?? Apparently, many people underestimate Trump, and they do (did) not believe his words. Possibly, given his habit of being a compulsive liar (eg, Forbes-2024, Fox-2024, WSJ-2016).

Bill Ackman and other Trump voters wanted change. However, Change was also a Barack Obama’s campaign slogan (ie, Change, Hope, Progress). Trump does deliver on change but apparently different from his voter expectations.

Trump’s majority in U.S. Congress is not substantial: Senate (53 vs 47 seats) and House of Representatives (220 vs 213 seats). Hence, Trump is no longer willing to gamble with any seat (eg, Elise Stefanik).

In my view, Trump’s latest campaign slogan is the most dangerous one: King Donald (eg, ABC, Conversation, Economist, Guardian, Independent, NBC, NYT). Bypassing decrees by lower (federal) courts is just his beginning (eg, AFPI).
