On 11 April 2015, I published my blog: Chaos, Equilibrium, SuperPowers and the United States of Europe (1). A lot has happened since, like Trump 2017-2021, 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Trump 2025-tbd.
Today, I present an update of my 2015 diagram, which includes The Great Flood (16,000 BC – 4,000 BC). Or, alternatively, the post-glacial sea level rise following the Last Glacial Maximum. Before 20,000 years ago, little is known.
Some other changes: the Byzantine or Eastern Roman Empire has been added to the first column, being the Arab region. The Turkish Ottoman Empire (c.1500-c.1750) has also been added to that column.
Perhaps, the most important change is in my conclusion per column: which region contains a regional / global superpower? In my view, USA is losing that role rather swiftly due to Trump.
Due to bilateral pressure from (1) Russia (eg, its 2022 invasion of Ukraine), and (2) Trump-2025, the region of Europe is changing rather quickly. Probably, towards a Federal Republic of Europe.
