My thought above also appears to be a quote by Charles Dederich. Initially, I assumed it applied to someone whom I had just met online. She preached love and understanding to me, but failed to apply those standards to herself.
Earlier that same day, I had already met someone else. Recently, she and I met in real life (IRL). Now, I assume that my brain wave (and the Charles Dederich quote) actually referred to her rather than the second woman.
Apparently, the quotes above and below need some explanation:
“This quote offers a refreshing perspective on time and opportunity. It reminds us that every day is a new beginning, a chance to start afresh, and an opportunity to pursue our goals and aspirations.”

I suppose my thought (see title) was a reminder to myself for not losing hope. Last Saturday, I felt quite bored which is rather unusual for me. However, boredom is a prerequisite for curiosity. Then I stumbled on a site that I had totally forgotten about. The response on that site lifted my spirits.
The quote above makes sense once you know its background: “Charles ‘Chuck’ Dederich founded Synanon, a group that originally began as a drug rehabilitation program before evolving into a notorious cult in the 1970s” (People).
Slowly, it’s dawning upon me that my search is over. I’m confident that she has a similar feeling. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. What a great feeling. It brings peace of mind. Those restless days are gone.
“Today is the first day of the rest of your life. And if that doesn’t work out for you, Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life.”
A quote by actor and comedian Bob Saget (1956-2022), and – I suppose – a humorous reference to Charles Dederich
