Several articles have claimed that VP Kamala Harris is ruthless (eg, Politico-2019, Nieuwsblad, de Standaard). That characteristic in her attitude, behaviour, and/or personality is rather rare for women. For men, like Donald Trump, such a feature (often) appears “acceptable”.
If both Harris and Trump would be ruthless then who would win? In my view, voters are more likely to accept Trump’s ruthlessness and less likely to accept Harris’. In my view, the failed 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton proves my point.
Recently, a female top ECB official was criticising “the vice president as “invisible”, and predicting that she would never win” (Politico). My gut feeling agrees. Moreover, I’ve never liked Hillary Clinton. Nor do I like Kamala Harris.
Her alleged ruthlessness may well relate to her former jobs as district attorney (DA) for San Francisco (2003), and the “elected attorney general of California in 2010 and re-elected in 2014”. Only victories count in those jobs.
Moreover, it’s my experience that attorneys or lawyers do not mind lying. Any effort is about winning, regardless of the truth. Also see my 2016 blog: Do lawyers have a conscience? Or Psychology Today (2014): Are Lawyers All Raging Psychopaths?
In my view, both Clinton and Harris appear to fit the description of psychologist Kevin Dutton in his 2012 book The Wisdom of Psychopaths. Kevin Dutton “argues that “functional psychopaths” [..] use their unempathetic, ruthless, and charismatic personalities to succeed in mainstream society” (PT-2014).
I have little to no doubt that Republicans have already been looking for wrongful convictions by Kamala Harris. If those would exist than she has no chance of winning the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”
