Jill Biden is the First Lady of the United States or FLOTUS. There’s a new category now: First Criminal of the United States or FiCUS. The presumption of innocence makes no logical sense – in his case. I’m quite sure that this “deeply wounded narcissist” would be loud and proud carrying his latest title.
His latest indictment is his most serious one: “efforts to overturn 2020 election and block transfer of power” (eg, AP). Hence, my blog title: First Criminal of the United States. Nevertheless, for many Republicans, he is still their first, their last, and their everything (see song below).
Recently, former Republican congressman of Texas (2015-2021), former CIA officer, and Republican presidential nominee Will Hurd stated that “Donald Trump is running [for presidency] to stay out of prison” (eg, Axios). That comment did not go well with his Republican audience.
Former vice president Mike Pence was rather mild in his comments on the latest indictment of his former boss: “Today’s indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States” (eg, Politico).
Rudy Giuliani, alleged Co-Conspirator 1, issued a brazen statement: “This indictment eviscerates the First Amendment and criminalizes the ruling regime’s number one political opponent for daring to ask questions about the 2020 election results” (eg, NR). Clearly, the attack is the best form of defence.
The effort of daring to ask questions (about the 2020 election results) is a long way from actively manipulating its outcome (eg, AP, Fox News, National Review, Politico). The motto seems to be: if you cannot convince them, confuse them. The next step is: if you cannot confuse them, scare them.
