Modern Love is a section in The New York Times, “a “weekly column, a book, a podcast — and now, in its 17th year, a television show — about relationships, feelings, betrayals and revelations”. This NYT section is about real stories with real people. Often, such stories are more interesting and surprising than fiction, which is always limited by a writer’s imagination.
A friend recommended watching the tv series of Modern Love, which airs on Amazon Prime Video. Each episode is independent because each NYT love story is independent. Hence, there is no need to binge-watch. Still, this series will make you come back for watching more episodes. The carefully selected love stories are beautiful and sometimes even heartbreaking.
Season 1 contains love stories that happened in New York City. The final episode of season 1 “connects” all previous episodes in a beautiful (though imaginary) way. Each episode has at least one famous actor, who perfectly blends into the story (eg, Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel). One of the love stories features a rather hilarious cameo by Ed Sheeran, playing a street bum.
The first two episodes of season 2 start in Ireland but the series will move back to New York City. The impressive filming locations are a bonus while watching this series.
I recommend watching this beautiful tv series that has a rating of 8 on IMDb.
