Idiocracy (3)

Recently, I noticed my 2016 blog again: Closed mindedness, ignorance and stupidity. Considering its mentioning of stupidity, there has to be a link with idiocracy (my blogs). On further reflection, I also recalled my 2017 blogs on the arrogance and ignorance of the left vs the right as well as globalism vs nationalism. In 2021, I also wrote about the link between arrogance, ignorance and stupidity.

My diagram below shows how these topics relate.

A 2021 interview with actress Sharon Stone illustrates the link between closed mindedness and cancel culture:

“I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen. I think when people say things that they feel and mean, and it’s offensive to you, it’s a brilliant opportunity for everyone to learn and grow and understand each other.” Sharon Stone said she believes others should “give people an opportunity to discuss things before you wipe out their entire person over a statement or a comment or a misunderstanding.” Note: all markings in quote by LO.

On 15 December 2021, actor Matthew McConaughey made some similar observations:

“We need liberals, what I don’t think we need is illiberals. What I don’t think some liberals see is they’re being cannibalized by the illiberals. There are extremes on both sides that I think are unfair… the extreme left and extreme right completely illegitimize the other side. They exaggerate the other side’s stance into an irrational state that makes no sense. That’s not fair.” Note: all markings in quote by LO.

For some time, I’ve been arguing that societies are heading for the third stage in the Love, Knowledge & Power triangle (a.k.a. trialism), being Power. For many past centuries, we have had the notion that Knowledge equals Power (eg, Imam AliFrancis BaconMichel Foucault). This concept is also known as dualism. Slowly, we are heading for monism in which Power is leading and Love and Knowledge are its subordinates.

In my view, idiocracy must be some kind of phase or stage towards or within monism. An idiocracy is even likely to accelerate monism and/or the 5th and last stage of Plato’s five regime types (my blogs of 2018 and 2021), being tyranny.

I suppose that the above is a consequence or an effect of our human beliefs, and in particular of my concept of the 7 Belief systems (2015 original, 2019 update).

“Stupidity is not lack of intelligence or knowledge. Stupidity is when you are offered a book and you don’t read it. Stupidity is when you have the chance to learn from a good teacher and you choose to remain arrogant and defend useless beliefs; Stupidity is when life offers you an opportunity to grow and change and overcome your past, but you can’t break free from your habits and rather remain stuck to your old beliefs. Stupidity is when you insult the one that could make you free from your state of stupidity by using stupid affirmations and stupid arguments. Stupidity is always a choice, not a state of being.”

Criticize (1987) by Alexander O’Neal
artist, lyrics, video, Wiki-1, Wiki-2

Don’t criticize my friends
Criticize my ideas
Don’t criticize my lifestyle
I’m fed up ’cause all you wanna do is criticize
