So there was no landslide victory for Joe Biden after all. Once again, liberal media are in for a catharsis. The results are becoming a neck-and-neck race and mail-in ballots may even become the decisive factor. It’s the best and worst possible outcome for any democracy. The outcome of the 2020 US presidential election shows a deeply divided country.
A recent survey by the Pew Research Center shows how a majority of Democrats and of Republican view each other: closed-minded, unpatriotic, and immoral. A minority also added: lazy and unintelligent. Several articles summarized these findings and claimed that both parties view each other as traitors (eg, the Conversation, Psychology Today).
During the 19th and 20th century, countries with a bipartisan political model outperformed countries with a multi-party system. Latter system is built on consensus decision-making, which will always slow down developments. However, a “winner takes all” model will create polarization and – at times – a tyranny of the majority (eg, court-packing).
The 21st century is showing a reversal of fortunes: the bipartisanship model results in a gridlock, while the multi-party system shows few signs of fatigue. My concept of Needs, Wants & Beliefs may be at the heart of this. Europe and USA are both in the (collective) Beliefs development stage of societies.
By definition, a consensus decision-making model requires a moderation of (ideological) Beliefs, while moderation in bipartisanship is viewed as a weakness. Hence, bipartisan Beliefs are bound to become more and more extreme, until they can no longer be bridged. Hence, my blog title: no matter who wins, America has already lost.
The failure of Politics as a Belief system will accelerate the changes in the (American) Power domain of the 7 Belief systems (2019) from its 2016 version. Hence, Politics and Religion are out, and Data-Info and Technology are new entries. The Belief system Money always chooses the Winner’s side in the Power domain of the 7 Belief systems.
These changes will not happen overnight but may take years or even decades. Nevertheless, America will probably be the first western nation that will start mirroring China’s Power domain: one-party dominance, Big Data, and Big Tech.

The winner takes it all
The loser is standing small
Beside the victory
That’s her destiny
