Happiness & satisfaction (5) and completeness

Since a few weeks, I’m noticing that satisfaction and happiness (my blogs) are inadequate to describe how I’m feeling nowadays. Something is missing. Initially, I supposed that Happiness might be another container word like Love. The ancient Greek used at least six words for describing the various types of love: agápe, éros, philía, philautia, storgē, and xenia (Wiki).

Indeed, the ancient Greeks used at least four words for describing the various types of happiness: eudaimonìa (prosperity and divine favour), makariòtes (spiritual happiness), òlbos (material happiness), and eutychìa (good fortune). Sources: Quora, Wiki. Still, these additional meanings for happiness do not fully cover the missing component that I am looking for.

I suppose that the feeling of incompleteness regarding the above description also led me to its solution: completeness seems to be on top of satisfaction and happiness. Moreover, there seems to be a relationship with one of my other concepts: Needs, Wants & Beliefs (my blogs).

Satisfaction arises when your basic Needs are fulfilled over a long(er) period of time. Happiness is usually a short-lived feeling when a Want has been realised. Completeness is a Belief – or an opinion rather than a fact. Beliefs are powered by Faith and are usually of a long-term nature. Faith, Beliefs & Willpower is another concept of mine (my blogs).

Satisfaction and happiness can be plotted like a utility or indifference curve. The height of that curve would, however, not bend downwards but upwards. Completeness would further pull that utility curve upwards. In principle, the entire graphic area could be filled when satisfaction, happiness and completeness are at their (subjective) peak.

Utility or indifference is a concept in microeconomics that applies to goods and/or services. Each additional unit can be viewed as added value, a synonym. Adding completeness to satisfaction and happiness, makes it priceless. The word it represents Love and perhaps more.

My love claims that we are twin souls. She believes our souls are two pieces of one (eg, soul dualism). It took her three days to realise she made a mistake. On the third day, I suddenly received a “feeling/message” she wanted to reach out to me. Within ten minutes after deblocking her, she indeed did. I feel her remorse is genuine (see quote by Mignon McLaughlin).

During my life, I have been satisfied, dissatisfied, happy and unhappy. Still, I’ve always felt that something was missing. Today, I know that this feeling was about being incomplete. I feel complete since she has arrived into my life. This feeling of completeness is priceless.

She (1974) by Charles Aznavour

artist, lyrics, video, Wiki-1, Wiki-2

She may be the reason I survive

The why and wherefore I’m alive

The one I’ll care for

Through the rough and rainy years

Me, I’ll take her laughter and her tears

And make them all my souvenirs

For where she goes I’ve got to be

The meaning of my life is she
