Sta Hungry Stay Foolish

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

Why can’t we agree on what’s true any more?

Recently, the Guardian published an article: Why can’t we agree on what’s true any more? I use their title for today’s blog. The answer to that question is quite simple: the Truth does not exist. Each of us perceives different truths, depending on our beliefs. The Truth is a nothing more than a perception of reality, within our consciousness.

Consciousness is a unique feature of humans (Aeon/my blog). We know that we cannot fly because we lack wings. Nevertheless, humans often still believe that they would be able to fly if they only had wings. Human imagination created flying machines (eg, Leonardo da Vinci) and submarines (eg, Jules Verne), both long before these machines became reality.

In my 7 August 2017 blog, I outlined the 4 levels of consciousness, including links to intelligence, facts, opinions and belief systems:

Our senses define what we see, hear smell, feel and taste. This may or may not be accurate and is always incomplete.

Our consciousness processes that information and uses assumptions to complete missing info.

Our resulting perception is how we look to the world in front of us.

Our beliefs explain why our perception agrees or disagrees from the perception of other people.

Sometimes, it looks like a miracle that 8 billion humans are able to cooperate given the complex answer (above) to the simple Guardian question. I think, feel and believe that the 7 Belief systems are accountable and responsible for that. Betrayal of beliefs is probably our worst sin.

The 7 Belief systems are governed by the triangle of Love-Knowledge-Power (trialism):

– the Knowledge = Power equation creates dualism, which is providing balance;

– the selfish love for Knowledge and/or the selfish love for Power creates chaos.

“Do you know what love is? I’ll tell you: it is whatever you can still betray.” A quote from the 1965 spy novel The Looking Glass War by John le Carré, a British author of of espionage novels.
