The terms dark matter and dark energy and/or negative energy have been on my list of topics for a while. However, it’s hard visualising something in your mind which you cannot see or touch. Given the universal concept of symmetry and balance (my 2016 blog), dark energy & matter should be the opposite of (ordinary) energy and matter.
I have written about Identity versus Power in my blogs of 2017 and 2019. The thought just struck me that matter provides (an) identity while energy provides power. Both appear to be standalone concepts but provide synergy when combined.
Any quest for Identity (eg, Nationalism) never ignores a secondary quest for Power (eg, Turkey). A quest for Power automatically brings an Identity (eg, Russia, USA). A quest for pragmatism conceals secondary strives for Identity and Power, albeit on a temporary basis (eg, China).
Europe seems to lack a quest for both Identity and Power. European identities are national rather than supranational. The same can be said about European power, which is also at a national level (eg, Germany) rather than a supranational level (ie, EU).
It’s interesting to argue about the opposite(s) of energy and matter. Considering that we (humans) cannot see or touch dark energy and/or dark matter, the opposite of something that we can see and touch, might just be nothing.
In July 2018, I wrote my Nothing blog. Often when we use the word nothing, its use is never truly valid. There’s always something but it’s not what we like or want it to be. The same may apply to the Universe. Any nothing (eg, the hole in a ring, black hole, wormhole) always seems to have a purpose and may thus be considered a something.
Scientists are convinced that the Universe consists of only 5% of ordinary matter and energy while dark energy plus matter account for 95%:
Wiki: “In the standard Lambda-CDM model of cosmology, the total mass–energy of the universe contains 5% ordinary matter and energy, 27% dark matter and 68% of an unknown form of energy known as dark energy. Thus, dark matter constitutes 85% of total mass, while dark energy plus dark matter constitute 95% of total mass–energy content.”
When you look at the sky, this belief makes perfect sense. Most of the Universe appears to contain nothing and looks like a massive void. The moons, planets (both matter) and stars (energy) qualify as something. The purpose of nothing might just be that something can grow into existence.
