Love, Knowledge and Power are the 3 dimensions in my concept of the 7 Belief systems. While writing yesterday’s blog on The Arrow of Time and the 7 Belief systems, I realised that I never explained the interactions between these 3 dimensions. Love and Fear are the two primal human emotions (my 2016 blog). All other emotions (eg, desire) are derived from these 2.
Love is directed to people or subjects. The ancient Greek used 4 words to describe the various types of Love: agápe (divine love), éros (romantic love), philía (brotherly/sisterly love), and storgē (parental love) (Wiki). The “love” for objects is called desire. The philosopher Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) already concluded that there is a desire for Knowledge and/or Power.
The interactions between Love, Knowledge and Power have been outlined in my diagram below. Love is the source for the desire for Knowledge and/or Power (objects). Knowledge and Power have a natural relationship based upon fear. The Time dimension is interesting: Power is temporary, Knowledge is transferable, while Love is eternal.
Love is the only belief that is selfless and eternal. All other 6 beliefs are selfish (my 2017 blogs: part 1, part 2) and restricted in time. The above is another explanation for 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
