“One of Donald Trump’s greatest weaknesses is that he’s such a good counterpuncher, he often hits himself,” said Ari Fleischer, who was George W. Bush‘s White House spokesman (NPR). A counterpunch is a boxing term, Trump’s favourite sport. Hitting yourself in a counterpunch is basically the equivalent of being your own worst enemy.
A Price Waterhouse audit partner once told me that I was my own worst enemy. He explained his statement. I knew he was right (i.e., hearing, listening, accepting and believing) and started my process of Change (i.e., willingness and faith). I never regretted following his advice.
Being nearly 71, Donald Trump (1946) is too old to change. His Presidency will become a tragedy rather than its current nuisance. Donald Trump does not listen, accept, or believes anyone but himself and – perhaps – a few others. Donald Trump hears what he wants to hear.
Independent, 30 January 2017: “In a bid to warn the public, psychologists are publishing their diagnoses of Trump. Most recently, John D. Gartner said Trump “is dangerously mentally ill and temperamentally incapable of being president.” He believes Trump shows signs of “malignant narcissism,” which is defined as a mix of narcissism, antisocial personality disorder, aggression and sadism in Campbells’ Psychiatric Dictionary.”
The American voters have elected Trump, with or without Russian support. The American people need to deal with this 45th President. Congress is responsible for invoking the 25th Amendment of the American Constitution. This may take months but not years. Trump’s impeachment is just a matter of time (eg, CNN, TIME).
Being a narcissist, Trump wants to hear praise, not criticism. Hence, the criticising media have become his enemy. Each week, perhaps even each day, is getting harder for Trump as his “enemies” smell blood. Perhaps there is a genuine Russia Gate, perhaps Trump is just his own worst enemy and creating this mess himself by his erratic and foolish behaviour.
I’m convinced that Trump is also in deep denial for whatever reason. He found comfort in a victim role and uses reverse psychology and projection to cope with reality. Hence, Trump always blames others rather than assuming any accountability or responsibility for things that go wrong. He does claim accountability and responsibility for things that went well but clearly not on his watch.
More and more, people call Trump a liar because of his continuous falsehoods. Donald Trump is, however, an extreme believer in the truth, his Truth. There is a subtle though important difference between deliberate lies and an extreme belief in the Truth. The difference might just be a successful “temporary” insanity plea in court.
This is probably my last blog on Donald Trump as I am sick and tired of this sick old man who is making a mockery of a once great nation. Sometimes I even feel sorry for him but never too long. Nevertheless, it’s America’s problem. Deal with it. Please !
