There are eight known causes for climate change: (1) strength of the sun, (2) changes in the Earth’s orbit, (3) changes in the orientation of the Earth’s axis of rotation, (4) quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, (5) carbon dioxide content of the oceans, (6) plate tectonics, (7) ocean currents and (8) vegetation coverage on the land (British Geological Survey). Apart from greenhouses gases, most of these 8 causes are impossible to quantify.
I am more and more convinced that a part of what we call climate change is actually a climate shift. The main causes for a climate shift are (#3) the Earth’s wobble around its axis and (#6) plate tectonics. This wobble is even one of the triggers for plate tectonics (Wiki).
Wiki: “Earth rotates (white arrows) once a day around its rotational axis (red); this axis itself rotates slowly (white circle), completing a rotation in approximately 26,000 years”. The picture shows that Earth resembles a “spinning top“.
Astrology, astronomy and climate change meet each other in Earth’s axial precession cycle. The astronomical cycle of 25,920 years covers 12 Astrological Ages of 2,160 years each, a 60 year Chinese zodiac cycle, and a 12 month Western zodiac cycle.
Some scientists refer to our Earth’s wobble as the “Pacemaker of the Ice Ages” (Science, 1976).
In the early 1900s, Milutin Milankovitch published about the (predictable) impact of orbital variations on (less/more) sunlight and the resulting global cooling or global warming. “Based on the orbital variations, Milankovitch predicted that the ice ages would peak every 100,000 and 41,000 years, with additional “blips” every 19,000 to 23,000 years” (NASA).
The consequences of this climate shift are enormous. A 2017 scientific study reveals that today’s Sahara desert was once a Green Sahara. UA News: “Archaeological evidence shows humans occupied much of the Sahara during the wet period, but left for [a period of] about a thousand years, around 8,000 years ago — the middle of the Green Sahara period.” “It looks like this thousand-year dry period caused people to leave,” Tierney said.”
In my various blogs on the Sumerian civilization, I have concluded that it’s quite likely that there is a connection between disappearing African civilizations around 6,000 BC and an emerging “black-headed” Sumerian civilization in Mesopotamia, near the current Iran/Iraq border “between c. 5500 and 4000 BC” (Wiki).
While a part of climate change is man-made beyond reasonable doubt, climate shift is based on astronomical and geological changes. Only extreme beliefs, closed mindedness and arrogance & ignorance prevents us from separating these two.
