The Sumerian civilization (3) – 50,000 years ago

The human timeline, which started almost 3 million years ago, shows a distinct change around 50,000 years ago. “This hypothesis is based on the record of fossils and biogenic substances from periods before 50,000 years ago and the human artifacts found after 50,000 years ago. [This] view distinguishes anatomically modern humans from behaviorally modern humans.” (Wiki).

These events of 50,000 years ago coincide with some other important events:

– Geological: the last glacial period  of about 110,000 to 12,000 years ago;

– the last glacial maximum (c. 24,500 BCE) when global sea levels were -140 meters from now;

– the Out of Africa hypothesis (c. 50,000 to 100,000 years ago);

– the Sumerians calling themselves the “black-headed people” (also: link 1, link 2);

– the Neanderthal (c. 500,000 to 40,000 years ago) suddenly became extinct;

– the origin of modern languages puts complex language in Africa 80,000 to 160,000 years ago;

– the genetic “Adam” lived between 60,000 and 140,000 years ago with 1 exception (source).

So, what happened 50,000 years ago?? NatGeo: “The crux of the argument comes down to whether these abilities resulted from a sudden biological and genetic revolution, or a more gradual evolution of abilities that culminated around 50,000 years ago and propelled the exodus from Africa.”

The Sumerian creating story claims that the arts of civilization were given to humankind by their gods: Anu and the anunnaki. Modern humans were created by Enki in the image of the gods by using an egg cell of an earthly Homo and the sperm of an anunnaki. A female anunnaki carried the (male) baby (Adapa or Adam). In order to make procreation easier, a modern female was then created from a modern man (Eve). The many similarities with the Book of Genesis are intriguing.

The reason for human creation is interesting. The Sumerian clay tablets claim that the anunnaki arrived on planet Earth 450,000 years ago to extract gold in Africa (eg, Guardian, Ophir, Zimbabwe) which they needed to protect their twelfth planet. However, the anunnaki went on strike and Anu approved Enki‘s solution: the creation of human workers to assist the gods.

To date, this twelfth planet (aka Tyche) has still not been found although the Sumerian clay tablets do mention it, together with Pluto which was finally located in 1930. The existence of Tyche was “first proposed in 1999”. “In 2014, NASA announced that the WISE survey had ruled out any object with Tyche’s characteristics” (eg, NASA’s planet X, Wiki).
The Sumerian clay tablets claim that the orbit of the twelfth planet around the sun takes 3,600 years. No doubt this 3,600 year orbit also explains the base-60 system that we inherited from the Sumerians: 60 seconds, 60 minutes, 360 days. Wiki: “The Sumerian calendar of Nippur dates to 3500 BCE and was itself based on older astronomical knowledge of an uncertain origin“.

I am more and more interested in reading Zecharia Sitchin‘s 1976 bestselling book “The Twelfth Planet” (eg, Amazon EUAmazon USA, BOL, Sitchin).
